Found out that our phone (with ICS) is telling other bluetooth devices that's its a other bluetooth device.
After that the rSAP car-kit desides that it's not a phone.

This is a problem in the ROM (or bluetooth stack perhaps?) and not in rSAP for Android.

This should be easy to fix for the ROM maker.

Any clue on how? Asked but they claimed not to know?

Sorry, don't know either. I'd guess it is in some config file?

Perhaps you should first verify the suspicion that the Bluetooth device class (correct term?) is the problem. If you have a PC with Bluetooth try to pair the phone with it and check what device icon you get. It should be a phone.

No, it shows as 'other device'.

For me no problem any more since I replaced my HD2 with a brand new Samsung Galaxy S3 (quad core baby!) 8-) :D

I got it working with Mercedes SAPV3 and NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.4-CM9-HWA V2.5 (Kernel: tytung_HWA_r3.2) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=1434860

However, I had the same issue as teddybt as the HD2 was seen by other bluetooth devices as "other peripheral".
Issuing on the phone the command "hciconfig -a" showed that phone class it set as 0x5a0000 (= Miscellaneous devices) http://bluetooth-pentest.narod.ru/softw ... rator.html

To solve that, I first tried to add a "main.conf" file in /system/etc/bluetooth/ but it seems that ICS doesn't care of this file. So I've removed it
Then I found that bluetooth configuration is written by ICS in /data/misc/bluetoothd/<device MAC>/config
So I've replaced the line "class 0x5a0000" by "class 0x5a020c" with a root shell, rebooted the phone and... Success !!!
Ok, this trick is a little bit "piggy" but it works even after a reboot or if you change the bluetooth phone name.

Accidently stumbled over this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... 0&page=950

Looks like editing the 'config' file fixes Bluetooth problems.
