ZTE Blade

Post by blindrabbit » Thu Nov 03, 2011 8:40 pm

Hi,

can I get this working on a ZTE Blade phone running Cyanogenmod 7.1 or is this the Hardware limiting its usage?

Thanks.

It is not a compatibility issue with the Android software but more with the baseband software. This is completely closed source and different for every phone and hard (or even imposible) to access from Android. I did not yet take a look at the ZTE Blade, but I don't have much hope.

Could you have a look at it if you had the

ZTE BLADE series-Froyo kernel(2.6.32) source code

available at ZTE Support. I think this is what is also used in the CM7

Thanks

The kernel sources don't help. It's the baseband software and the RIL lib. Although I did not check yet, I'm quite sure they are both closed source :(

I'll try to find out this evening.

Seems like this not that simple.

Thank you for looking at it anyway!

The baseband interface looks similar to the Sony Ericsson phones, so what will work on the ZTE may work on Sony Ericsson. I'll try to get a device, perhaps I find some time during the Christmas holidays. Anyone offer a cheap Xperia Mini...?
