Is there any way to get this application working with an LG P990?

Thanks in advance

They do have some phones that support rSAP so there is a slight chance that there is basic support in the radio software. But a first look tells me that I will not do it. Too much work with uncertain outcome.

Hello, first of all congratulations for your hard and well done work. You are a guru android hacker for many of us.

If you don't have any plans for porting the rsap function to the P990, could you al least show how can we do it?

I am starting with coding examples for Android, so I would be gratefully if you gave me a step by step recipe (only the main topic for further reading).

I hope it doesn't mind to you.

Sorry for my bad English and thanks in advance.

Luis.

The hardest part is to get access to the SIM card. All phones that I know cannot access the card directly from Android but use the radio/baseband software which (as far as I know) runs on a different processor core. The interface between Android and the baseband software is the RIL lib.

So you "only" have to find the undocumented RIL calls necessary to send undocumented commands to the SIM card for powering the card on/off, reading the ATR and sending command PDUs to the card. And you must be prepared that after countless hours of reengineering you may find out that there is no such interface on the LG phones :? That's why I don't want to do it...

It is not easy for a beginner but you will learn a lot by trying!

I spoke with the maintainer of the CM7 branch for the LG-Star platform, here is his answer:

I hope this clarifies the doubts or even justifies giving rSAP for the o2x/g2x a spin.

There is no standard for accessing the SIM card in Android, only support for SIM Toolkit which is not enough to implement rSAP. The RIL libs are always closed source. So it's all about reengineering undocumented interfaces and I simply don't have the time (and no LG phone).

Perhaps someone else might try.

What about creating a donation channel for buying an O2X to develop RSAP and that all the donators could become beta testers?

I'm sure that ALL O2X users would pay for your application.

Thanks in advance.

Or maybe you could push us in some directions as to (try to) reverse engineer the important parts ourselves. I'd be willing to give it a spin.

Cheers

I doubt that, just look at the download numbers of the HTC paid app... ;)
And I just got my Nexus S which has no rSAP support - yet. That's enough phones and work for now!

@ampex: I took a quick look at the LG RIL lib and found nothing to start with. Maybe try the "OEM hook" functions in the RIL interface?

Good luck!
