VW Premium RNS2 MFD2 with Galaxy XCover 2 (GT-7710)

Post by dr.schnappata » Tue May 13, 2014 12:38 pm

Hi all,

I'm driving VW Passat Variant (2007) with MFD2 RNS2.
For years I'm using several old phones (Siemens S65 / Nokia 5800).
Now I found rSAP for Android to connect XCover 2 with RNS2. It works fine, but ...
I could not updload/sync my phonebook.
Running sync or opening phonebook on car/RNS2 I get error message.
Without phonebook rSAP is versy useless.

Now I read about "Bluetooth Access Profile". Do I have also run this app to get all working?
I already paid for rSAP (it's not the cheapest app).

Is there any one who can help or answer?
Thanks.

You can simply test if the phonebook app helps. There is a free trial version.

I checked it - and it works, but

I don't know to be happy :) or angry :( ..
I think all guys using/needing rSAP will also need the other app to sync contacts.
To sell it seems to be "not user friendly" (saying it in normal words).

When I bought rSAP for this amount I thought that all (possible) functions to sync mobile with RNS will be included.

Thanks

You are partly right: if you have a VW "Premium" phone you may need both apps, especially when you have a Samsung phone. This is a quite common combination...

But the app is no "VW" app. You need rSAP also for other rSAP capable cars, like Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, ... Not all cars (and all phones!) need the phonebook app. In contrast, for many cars the phonebook app helps, although the car does not support rSAP. It's two different things, so it's two different apps.
