SM-N9005 HLTE Note 3 CM13 (Androind 6.0.1)

Post by claudiog » Sun Sep 04, 2016 12:59 pm

Hi

I've just taken delivery of an Audio A4 B9 which supports rSAP. Having never used rSAP before, I'm trying to connect my SM-N9005 HLTE Note 3 CM13 (Androind 6.0.1) to the car using rSAP.

rSAP v3.0 has installed & SAP is in ready state, yet when I connect to Bluetooth to the car, rSAP never "kicks" in - just standard Bluetooth.

Is there anything I'm doing wrong? Any help greatly appreciated.

As far as I could find out you need "MMI Navigation" or "MMI Navigation plus" and the "Audi phone box" to have rSAP in the new A4. If you do have both, maybe you have to change some settings in the MMI.

So I logged this with Audi UK who rang back to tell me that I should not need a phonebox as all that it offers is wireless charging and access to the vehicle's antenna. He was quite adamant about this suggesting that there is either a problem with my phone or the car software. He then advised me to contact a local dealership to test rSAP on another vehicle to be sure that it isn't my phone that's the problem. All a bit odd really. I would like to purchase the full version before I visit the dealership to test this in a vehicle with a phonebox and one without. Is this possible - and then if it doesn't work on any of the cars at the dealer - can I get a refund?

At least in Germany you surely need the phone box! It also says so in the German online Audi car configurator.

I'm not surprised that even Audi dealers are not well informed about the available Bluetooth options. They change all the time and the option which is necessary for rSAP is called different all the time. Recently you only needed the "Audi connect" option, now you need the "Audi phone box". Audi marketing does a really bad job.

Please simply test with the trial version. If it does not work with it it won't work with the full version. This saves me unnecessary work.

I checked the UK car configurator and in fact it says nothing about rSAP in the "Phone box" description. I couldn't find any information about rSAP at all. Audi marketing...

Maybe the "additional Bluetooth interface" is rSAP?

Thanks for clarifying and taking the time to look into this. It looks like Audi themselves do not know how their new models are configured. I doubt very much that the German market would differ from the UK market and so I would say you are right and Audi UK are giving me incorrect information. Such a shame this as had I known I might have specced the car differently as it would have saved me more money in the long run using rSAP instead of having to get an additional SIM for the vehicle.

What I will do - just to satisfy my curiosity is make a visit to my dealer and find out once and for all providing they have a car with phonebox for me to test with.

Thank you again - I really appreciate this information (even if it isn't what I want to hear :) )
