Samsung Galaxy 2 with ICS 4.0.3

Post by simont1952 » Mon May 07, 2012 6:42 pm

Having updated my phone I have noted a change of operating sytle in my A*.

Before (with 2.3.x) I could get SIM Access but no download of Address Book.

After (with ICS 4.0.3) I get no SIM Access (not a surprise) but my address book is now accessible.

At least this means that when I do use my SGS2 in the car I can actually dial some one.

However until the SIM Access profile issue is soolved in a way that a non-techy can understand I will have to keep my Mokia E72 running as well.

This is the way the MMI 2G phone prep high works, I'm guessing you have a pre 2009 A8 with MMI 2G, when you updated your SII to ICS, 4.0.3 then you lost rSAP profile and connect via HFP profile now. in HFP profile the phone book does transfer, in rSAP mode it doesn't

Yes, I recognise now what you say as my Nokia E72 needs a "helper" application from Nokia to actually push the phonebook contacts across.

So, do we need a helper app for Android to do this?

I am researching again as I am nearing the point of changing my phone again. After much research I have decided I have to stay with Android and will go for an S3. I am being told that this works better with my car - however it needs to be proven of course.
