Android 7 support

Post by madnut » Wed Feb 22, 2017 3:36 am

Hello,

Would like to clarify if rSAP app supports Android 7? I have Mi 4c and with 5.1.1 version rSAP works pretty well. But now I've upgraded to 7 version and installer app is failed to connect to socket when I try to install it to new system. Is it known issue? Are there any way to fix the error?

Sorry, if I missed any information about this, I tried to search forum, but it's hard to find anything with "android 7" expression :)

I updated my Nexus 5X to the latest 7.1.1 Android version and everything works as expected, so it must be special issues with the MI 4c and Z5.

Checklist:

  • do the system files "stick"? I.e. is "uninstall" available after a reboot?
  • do all variants (Mk.I, II, III) fail?

Uninstall is available either before or after reboot, works well.

I have only II and III and both fail. On 5.1 android I used Mk.III.

Some other info:
My Android version is 7.0, not 7.1.1
SoC is the same as yours - Snapdragon 808

I also checked 7.0 when it was released. I only wasn't sure if there were breaking changes in 7.1. LineageOS also doesn't have any problems.

Please check the /system/build prop file which RIL library is used (usually "rild.libpath=...") and check if there is a file with same name and extension ".orig.so" beside it. The RIL library file should be named libril-qc-qmi-1.so. There are several places where a file with that name may exist - maybe the installer app replaces the wrong one?

.so lib is located under /vendor/lib64 and installer correctly detect the path and replace the file. But I noticed that new file is much smaller, than the original ones, just 34Kb. Is it normal size for such type of library?

That's OK.

So I don’t have any idea what may go wrong, except that "root" is not allowed to access a socket created by user "radio". Or maybe "radio" is not allowed to create the socket...? Can you try to create a logcat of the "radio" buffer directly after boot or while pressing the "install" button? As far as I remember you can select the logcat buffer in the CatLog app.
