Galaxy S2 Installation problems

Post by pbsuperb » Fri May 11, 2012 2:41 pm

I have the Galaxy S2 which I have rooted using the instructions from Cnet and S2 Root.exe

the O/S is Android version 4.0.3

When I try to install the rSAP installation application it says that the phone must be rooted to run, which it is. When I press OK and then Install/Update the system Files it says:

Installation Failed
mount failed null

and then takes me back to Install/Update the system Files screen

Am I doing anything wrong.

This looks like the phone is not rooted. Can you post a link to the instructions you followed?

Having installed the unsecured kernel with odin3, and using S2 root.exe, I have selected to root the device and the following is shown before the galaxy restarts

Device Manufacturer: SAMSUNG
Device Model: GT-I9100
ROM Build: GT-I9100-user 4.0.3 IML74K BULPC release-keys

Checking Device Connection...
Device Connected!
Restarting ADB Server...
Checking ROOT Access...
Device Has TEMP ROOT Permissions!
Attempting To PERM ROOT Device...
Remounting '/system' as Read/Write...
Pushing Required Files To Device...
Setting Permissions...
Installing 'BusyBox'...
Remounting '/system' as Read Only...
PERM ROOT Success!
Syncing Device...
Cleaning Temporary Files...
Rebooting Device...
Done!

I assume that the device is rooted!!!

Does not look bad. Can you please try to update the "su binary" in Superuser app settings?

Updating the Su Binary did not work and I had lost wireless connectivity as a result of the rooting. I have therefore flashed back to a secure kernel and will try another way to Root the Galaxy. When I have done this I will try again.
I am going to try a pre-rooted stock firmware. Do you think this will work and I will be able to install your applications.

I can recommend rooting with a "CF-Root" kernel. See xda thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=1103399

Hi. Success. I installed a pre-rooted kernel from "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1608071"

once done and having updated Super Su, the installation went a treat. Now connected to Skoda Columbus. :D

Excellent!!!!

Thanks
