Samsung xcover GT-S5690

Post by mwmcc » Wed Apr 03, 2013 4:34 pm

Hello everyone,

Just finished rooting my xcover to try and install rSAP trial. The rooting went fine but by "install/update system files it says "installation failed. This phone is not compatible."

I'm hoping there is still something I can rig to make this work for me. I just bought the phone and want to be able to connect with my Passat Premium MDF2 with this phone, which was no problem with my old samsung wave Bada OS.

I can most likely update to Jelly bean or possibly newer if that would present the solution, but wanted to check here before I put the effort into doing that.

Android version 2.3.6 Gingerbread.XXLL1

Thanks in advance!
M

If your phone has a file /system/lib/libril-qc-qmi-1.so the Sony solution may work. If not I don't think it will ever work.

Where can I find that?

[EDIT]: I've looked and googled everywhere. Can you explain to me how I find out whether or not my phone has that system file?

Simple: use a file manager app like "OI Filemanager". You don't need root to browse the /system directory.

Yes, indeed simple. Thank you.

/system/lib/libreference-cdma-sms.so

/system/lib/libreference-ril.so

/system/lib/libril.so

/system/lib/libriloemhook.so

/system/lib/libRS.so

/system/lib/librs_jni.so

/system/lib/librtp_jni.so

But no /system/lib/libril-qc-qmi-1.so ....

So I'm buggered?

No trouble. I appriciate the help. I just bought the phone, so I can trade it back in for minimal charges and get a phone that will function how I need it to.

Any advise is welcome. I'll be going tomorrow for the exchange.

At least you can put in your list of non=compatibles: Samsung Galaxy Xcover GT-S5690 - not compatible.

Thanks again.

Kind regards,
M

Me again,

I've been looking around a bit, but figured I'd save some time and just ask:

Sony Xperia Go; do you know if this supports rsap or can be made to?

Found it. Won't work with the go... Too bad, I sure like the idea of a waterproof phone but I find the Sony Z just too big.

Open to adivse, if you can find the time.

Of course the Samsung Galaxys are first choice when you need rSAP. They don't even need my app. The next option would be one of the phones with the latest Qualcomm RIL, but so far I don't know many that work for sure: HTC One S (only S4 CPU!) and Sony Xperia S. With the Xperia Z I'm not yet sure if it works at all.

And water-proof phones are even harder to find...
