Nexus S with ICS 4.0.3

Post by shupa » Thu Dec 22, 2011 10:22 am

Hello,

Currently I'm using your rSAP app with my Nexus S running on GB 2.3.6 and it works perfectly :)

As soon we will have the opportunity to update it to ICS 4.0.3, I just want to know if you already test rSAP app with Nexus S running on ICS 4.0.3 ?

Thanks in advance

Regards

Nico

Yes, I tested with the 4.0.3 update and it works.

You have to pay attention to the following points:

  • The update will not work while the rSAP system files are installed, so uninstall before rebooting. The update checks all system files and will fail if you have modified any file in /system
  • You will have to "re-root" your phone after the update.

Be sure to create a backup of your running system before you do anything! I had some problems with different Superuser versions that took me a while to fix...

I am currently trying to make rsap work with a Google Nexus S running on ICS 4.0.3 but with no success. It has been working fine with 2.3.6 but after the update it does not. The weird thing is that rsap identifies the VW premium of the Tiguan i have and says that its connected but actually its not. It gets stack at the connecting screen until several minutes and then looses connection. Also another strange fact is that uppon pairing and entering the 16 digit code the car stacks at that screen while the phone and rsap applications says that it connected. Any ideas about this ?
(The phone was rooted after the update and busybox is installed )

So you did a fresh Bluetooth pairing after the update? That's what I'd try first. In the car you should remove the "user" entry for the phone or even do a factory reset. In the phone you can remove the pairing information in the Bluetooth settings.

If you already tried that and it still does not work, you may send me a "main" log of a connection attempt. Please note the approximate time when you see the connection loss in the car display.

Do you have the latest Premium UHV (with Handsfree support)?

Thanks for the quick reply! I did do a fresh pairing and that's were i noticed that the car is stack after entering the 16 digit code on the phone. I will try erasing the user from the car first and if that does not work also i will send you the logs. The car is of 2009 so i guess its not the latest Premium kit but i will check that out also. It is indeed hands free though with all the phones options on the car touch screen. I am not aware of the premium kits in newer vw models

It looks like the system files are not installed properly. Did you run the installer app after the upgrade?

I Uninstalled the app and then downloaded it again from the Market. Oh i see now there is an application that installs the system files also in the Market. I forgot that i used that previous time .

You have to rerun the rSAP installer app (https://market.android.com/details?id=c ... sapinstall) push the "install" button then rSAP should work again.
