Stuck with my DUN connection and HTC OneX

Post by amemo06 » Sun Feb 02, 2014 6:17 pm

Hi,
first I'm very pleased to see rSAP working quite fine within my VW Passat CC and my HTC OneX.
But now the next mandatory step is to make working the GPRS connection via DUN.

1/ I have a first newbie question.
What to setup for the 3G connection? I've found a parameter called APN in the OBD menus.
I'm not sure what I have to enter here.
In the selected connection of my HTCOneX, I have:
APN = 'sl2sfr'
but also
Type of APN = 'default,hipri'

I tried the first one sl2sfr, but nothing looks like working.

Any suggestion?

2/Second easy question:
When the icon 3G is supposed to be visible? When the setup is correct or when a device is connected to 3G via bluetooth?

As soon as I will be clear with the above, I may try to get the internet connection with my phone...

Sorry, I know it is not a question for the rSAP team. But I don't don't where to ask.
Thanks in advance.

Whether you have 3G or not is determined by the Premium phone's version. 3G is available since about 2010. As soon as you have a 3G connection the icon appears, you don't need to use the modem to show the icon. If you don't have 3G you most probably have a GPRS modem.

When you use the modem function you will have to enter the access data in the Android app (BlueVPN). But I don't remember what to enter and where to get it from

Hi,
first many thanks for the very fast answer.
In my case, the 3G icon was available with an old WM phone. But I was simply not able to remember if it was displayed or not when no bluetooth equipment is connected.
It seems now obvious that:
* either I incorrectly configured the APN in the Premium phone config,
* either I have an issue with rSAP for Android and my HTC One X.

I will continue to investigate/try.

BR

Sorry, I was a bit confused... The One X only supports the GSM mode of the SIM card, so you will not get a 3G connection. See also http://www.android-rsap.com/compatibility.html.

Hi,
thanks.
So far all my questions found an answer.

Except, that I have no more usage of the application if I can't setup the 3G connection.

Can you confirm there is no chance (in the future) that the HTC OneX can support the fulll SIM access?
Or is it something that may change?

It is very unlikely that I will find a way to support the USIM application for 3G support on the HTC One X. Sorry.

So this is time for crying!
I do not have anymore usage of rSAP.

All you FAQs are very clear and precise, so no complain against you.
It is a pity that I did not understood it before.

Let's pray rSAP will completely work with the next generation of HTC phones...

Many thanks for your great support so far.

Do you really need lightning fast Internet in the car? GPRS is fast enough for navigation with Google Maps, it only takes a bit longer to start up. I'd give it at least a try...
