VW Premium / SIII pairing

Post by ecclesweb » Thu Oct 31, 2013 4:26 pm

Hi, help required.

I have used three different Nokia handsets with my VW Premium [worked fine] but have decided that I want a newer Smartphone.

I have acquired a Samsung Galaxy SIII with Andriod 4.1.2 Build XXEMC2.

This is what happens when I try to pair and use the two devices;

Pairing:
1) VW Premium sees SIII and the code is input from the handset.
2) The handset says Paired Devices; VW-UHV Premium.
Using:
1) When I turn on the ignition the VW Premium searches and can see the GT-19300 but does not link to it.
2) The display shows; No paired device found [or something to that effect].

Any ideas - I seem have tried several times but seem to go around in circles !

Thanks in advance...

I don't know what may go wrong. The S III should work with any VW Premium. The only problem may be the phonebook transfer, but then the car should connect to the S III and immediately disconnect. You may try if the phonebook trial version fixes your problem.

Reluctantly, I have invoked Plan B !!!!

I have returned the excellent SIII to Vodafone and reverted to my two Nokia handsets that work fine with the VW Premium.
My daughter has an SIII with a different network provider - I will try to link her handset to the car and report my findings on here FYI.

Also FYI I have a Samsung GT-S5570 Galaxy Mini - brand new - but, as I understand from your site, and my own attempts, this handset will not work with the VW Premium.

Thanks anyway.

Hello again,

I have tried my daughters SIII, which is with a different service provider. Exactly the same; the car sees the phone and pairing seems to take place OK. Then;
1) The handset shows the VW Premium as paired.
2) The handset appears in the cars listing.
3) When the ignition is switched on, and only the SIII is present, the car searches through its list of handsets and does not link to the SIII. The massage appears in the car, "No suitable handset detected" or something to that effect.

My Nokia's are working fine, as they always have done !

What a shame, the SIII is a great handset.

Best Regards

The S III works fine for a lot of people, so it must be something in your special configuration.

What you describe sounds like you have Bluetooth switched off when the car searches for your phone. Can you try if it helps to set it Bluetooth visible?

Hi there

From memory, once paired the handset is set to "Visible to paired devices" and the SIII is visible on the VW device list.

If it is it should at least shortly connect. If not, Bluetooth is not working properly on the phone or the car.

If it disconnects after a few seconds it's a different story, see http://www.android-rsap.com/faq.html
