MT6572 Android 4.2.2 + Bluetooth Phonebook app

Post by Vasiliy » Wed Dec 25, 2013 7:42 pm

Hello!
Does "Bluetooth Phonebook app" require root access for MT6572 Android 4.2.2 devices?
(Doogee Collo2 DG120)

Sorry for my question about root access  , I found answer in main topic: "The profile does not ask for access rights...".

So, my set is:
- Doogee Collo2 DG120 smartphone (MT6572 Android 4.2.2)
- Alpine IVE-W530BT car headunit (with "Parrot" Bluetooth 3.0 inbuilt) which supports HFP, HSP, A2DP and AVRCP profiles.

There are two problems:
1. Bluetooth auto reconnection to headunit does not work if the phone is in deep sleep.
2. Wrong order of «first name» and «last name» in Bluetooth hands-free device via PBAP.

More details about problems:

1. This is very serious problem for me.
Every day I use DG120 in my car with Alpine IVE-W530BT headunit. For this purpose I switched ON DG120 Bluetooth permanently.
Bluetooth pairing – without problem.
BT reconnection in case DG120 is in active mode – without problem.
But BT reconnection when DG120 is in deep sleep mode (not active) – unsuccessful: after switching ON Alpine, BT seems like it connects for ~30 seconds (BT symbol on Alpine lights, but BT symbol on phone- doesn't), then connection breaks. Only switching OFF then ON can help after such failed connection.
So it is very inconvenienced to activate BT manually each time I get in to the car.
I tried to do the same experiment with another android phone (ZOPO C2 for example) – BT reconnection works well even in sleep mode. Also my old Nokia 3120c reconnects without any difficulties.

2. This is problem which is very inconvenient for me.
I have phone book with about 400 contacts. All contacts have fields «first» and «last» names. Last names is almost always different, but there are a lot of same first names. Due to this problem I prefer to sort contacts buy last name. But when I connect DG120 to my car hands-free headunit I see that all contact (that I watched on Alpine display) sorted by first name despite of the fact that contacts are sorted by last names in DG120.

I bought and installed "Bluetooth Phonebook app" but it did not solve the problems.
Please, see attached app log.

I'm not sure if my phonebook app works at all on a MTK6572 phone. The Mediatek phones usually have a completely different Bluetooth stack. Please check if the app shows "last connected to" below a profile.

Please, specify more detailed where I can check "last connected to"?
When I switch ON bluetooth, app shows "State: Ready".

As soon as the car successfully connects to my app the state changes from "ready" to "last connected to". In your case it does not, so the connection doesn't work, I guess because my app cannot quit the built-in PBA profile. This is because of the completely different Bluetooth stack used in Mediatek phones.

Yes, you are right. Even if phone is connected to car successfully, app state remains "ready".

Are you going to support MT6572 chip? If you are, I would be glad to make any quantity of app tests for you to help.

Currently I don't plan to support the Mediatek phones.
