Yeah, the 4.4 SMS change makes it pretty hard for such apps...
Can you implement it with root?

Should be possible, but currently I don't know how. I guess I'll have to learn how the Android app permissions work under the hood... This may take a while.

No news. I could not yet find a hint how to allow write access to the SMS database from inside the plugin. One possibility is to use "App Ops", but Google blocked that with 4.4.2. It seems to be possible to open the App Ops with an Xposed module, but I did not yet test that.

The plugin should work. Android 4.2 does not yet have the restrictions for SMS database access.

There is a way to get write access without being the default SMS app on Kitkat, look here.

I wrote a small test and it's working, but not on Lollipop.
And yes, with "AppOpsXposed" you can also enable the SMS write access (but not tested on Lollipop)

Hi Guys - I'm using Android 4.4.4 on my Sony Xperia Z2 with original firmware and locked bootloader, but of course rooted.

I'm using it with my Mercedes COMAND NTG 3.5 (for the S/CL class) with Mercedes SAP V4 cradle.

I get an error icon on my COMAND screen a few moments after the phone connects which looks like 3 envelopes and then an exclamation mark next to it, and then I get 1x SMS in my Inbox which reads "WARNING: SIM INBOX FULL"

I have no messages on my SIM card, and I only had one small SMS message on my phone. Without this SMS plugin, the COMAND system that I have is only capable of reading SMS messages off the SIM card itself and works fine - but with the plug in, nothing works.
