N4 not connecting to MB SAP v2 since CM 10.2

Post by sonus » Sun Jan 05, 2014 3:18 pm

Hi,

i was using a Nexus 4 running Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 and rSAP V2.4.2 with a Mercedes SAP v2. Everything was working smooth in this combination. Since upgrading CM to 10.2 the SAP v2 can not connect to the phone anymore. When searching for phones the Nexus 4 shows up and after entering the password for pairing the Nexus 4 shows to car phone kit as paired, but the SAP v2 unsuccessfully aborts the pairing process after about one more minute. Another SIM card from another provider, resetting the SAP v2 and clean installing CM 10.2 again did not help. After upgrading to CM 11 M2 (again after factory resetting) the problem persists.

I installed the "old" CM 10.1.3 and now it is working again.

As I could neither find anything on the compatibility or FAQ pages nor in the forum I would appreciate if admin could look into this.
I will send you the log files via mail.

Thanks,
sonus

I just checked with my Nexus 4 and CM11 worked for me. CM10.2 had the problem that neither WiFi nor Bluetooth was working at all, because I already had updated to the stock 4.4 firmware. It seems this changes the radio software so older CM versions don't work anymore. The only way to change this is to flash a matching stock ROM, i.e. 4.3 for CM10.x and 4.4 for CM11. Thanks for your tip about the radio firmware, i updated it from m9615a-cefwmazm-2.0.1700.48 to m9615a-cefwmazm-2.0.1700.98 using the 4.4.2 factory image. Doing so I found out the stock android 4.4.2 to be working fine with rsap. Unfortunately after installing CM 11 M2 again afterwards the old problem occurred again. The phone didn't complete the pairing process with the car anymore.
As before I send you the logs via mail.

I understand that CM 11 M2 is an unstable version and therefore do not expect it to be supported by your software. May it is a problem with their bluetooth stack they will solve until the stable release. Please understand it as an indication that there could be a problem when more users upgrade to CM 11.
I will stick to CM 10.1.3 until the next CM 11 release.

If the pairing process doesn't work it is not a problem of my app but of the Android Bluetooth stack. It worked for me after I switched from a working 4.4 to CM11, so I guess it's not a problem of CM11. I'd try installing a Nexus 4.4 factory image, boot it up at least once and then install a fresh CM11 over it. But it may also be that there is a bug in CM11 that only shows up when you try to pair the phone to a MB SAP...
