HTC One (M8)

Post by chotto69 » Fri Mar 28, 2014 1:36 pm

Hi,
I know it might be too early since the new HTC One has been realised only few days ago, but I was wondering if it was possible to check its compatibility with your app.

I have been using the app with Samsung phones since the first Galaxy S (I'm now on the S3) and just love it (it's the only reason I feel the need to root my phones, btw).

Before getting the new HTC I just want to make sure it can be used with my car (thanks to your app!).

Thanks in advance

Alex

Count me in, i'm in the same boat ;)
I also need a new Device, i still use my Desire HD (at a custom rom JB 4.3) and rsap never let me down (only on a KitKat try ..). I am also interested in the M8, IF rSAP works on it. a permanent root option is already available for it on xda.

Well, is your M8 rooted? If so, it would be your turn to find it out for us ;)

No, it is not yet rooted.
I have to find a reliable guide to do it.

No one here have already rooted its phone?

Hi All,
it appears that it should be easy enough to root the M8: I found this on XDA

If anyone who has already purchased the M8 could try to install the rSap application and report their findings would be really great

A review for my app in Play Store suggests that it does not work on the M8. But I don't know if the user maybe done something wrong.

So if you plan to root your phone only for my app, better wait for a verified success story!

Personally I don't rely much on users review on GooglePlay: god knows how many claimed the app didn't work on Samsung Galaxy S, S2 and S3 and I personally verified it worked fine on all these phones.
Considering that a rooted phone can always be un-rooted, if I had the M8 available I'd give it a shot with the app.
Of course this is only my opinion ;)

IMO, all of these toolkits are not very convenient because they all use HTC Dev for unlocking the bootloader.
They are only a graphical interface to "automate" all procedures (which can be done by using MS-DOS commands) therefore they are useless.
I still prefer to use a tool like revolutionary.io which one is a standalone and completely independent regarding the warranty (void?) in the case of using HTC Dev.
