If you run the same with the linked installer and trial apps you get a little bit more info!

Yes, that's the very problem some Qualcomm phones have recently, like the Nexus 5, Moto G, Oneplus One, etc. It seems Qualcomm has disabled the rSAP functions by default. Maybe the phone manufacturer has to pay for rSAP, maybe it simply has to be enabled, I don't know.

I've installed trial version on my Moto X (1st generation) wih Lolipop update and it worked just fine! I choose specific groups to be synced with a Peugeot 508 and it done what I was expecting.

Unfortunately, while driving I ran Google Maps for Navigation, and Gps fix was awfull, It was not working at all!!

I unistalled this app, rebooted phone, and GMaps ran OK.

Is it supposed to generate GPS errors? I was to buy this app, but with this major flaw do not know if it is worth it.

Regards,
Nelson

PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure I've heard it mentioned that there were some licence issues around manufacturers who sold hardware that had RSAP support.

Extrapolating from that, I always though that RSAP was intentionally disabled so the manufacturers didn't have to pay (Nokia?) a RSAP licence fee.

But I had assumed that Samsung had some sort of "bulk"/ legacy copyright deal that allowed them to put it in every phone they release at no additional cost other than the obvious testing / potential complications.

Seems a shame, as an infrequent driver, with a reasonably high spec Audi MMI system, I don't want to pay monthly line rental on an unused SIM - I'll hit it for several Gb of traffic report (and internet radio!) in one weekend, but then not use the car again for several weeks.

I don't know if you really have to pay a license fee for rSAP. I don't pay anything and so far nobody sued me. Maybe the phone maker has to pay Qualcomm for the feature, since it costed Qualcomm developers' time.

I still think rSAP is ignored because the iPhone doesn't support it. And the iPhone doesn't support it because no US car supports it. Most Americans are still not aware that there is a world outside the US

What still puzzles me is that Samsung sticks to rSAP, since there are also no Korean cars with rSAP support.

I guess, it's because Samsung uses own SoC mainly, so nothing to pay to Qualcomm :)
