Samsung S4 with VW Premium - wont work as expected

Post by mula » Tue Jan 28, 2014 10:43 am

Hello,

i have a brand new S4 GT-I 9505 with the latest firmware I9505XXUEMKF.

My first attempts to pair to my VW (Passat 2010, RNS 510) failed completely as the bluetooth connection was lost everytime after sending the 16 digit key to the car.

However, a test with a Galaxy S worked out the box.

So i swapped the SIM Card (Provider is O2. Germany) but the problems still exist. In my case, a new sim card did change nothing.

After installing the rsap APP, i was finally able to connect to the car and even access all phonebook entries.

But: it wont connect every time. F.ex. i think if the phone bluetooth is enabled before you turn on your car, it wont connect. the connection process is in an infinite loop saying "connecting to mobile phone...connection lost...connecting...blabla".

sometimes however the connection is successfull and i can make use of all functions.

For your information, i have attached a log file when the connection was not successful. i think that java i/o execption errors are caused by the security model of the samsung rom.

Hopefully u can make use of those informations.

Another thing to add, when the connection fails the sim card remains locked and the phone needs a reboot.

I just checked XXUEMKE and it works for me. But I had problems with WiFi after flashing this version with Odin, I could not switch it on. I read that there could be also problems with Bluetooth. Flashing the same ROM a second time fixed it for me.

Does the app show an error message? Can you pair your phone with other Bluetooth devices e.g. PC?

No i dont think i got any error message from the rsap app.

It says "connected to uhv..." but the car keeps saying "initialising phone...no bluetooth connection...connecting to <profile>..." etc.

i will give it another try and report back here.
