rSAP works with Android L / 5.0

Post by js4711 » Mon Nov 17, 2014 3:06 pm

Hey there.
I hope nobody minds that I open a new thread for this.
I just flashed my Android L / 5.0 Image without the Radio from here. After initial Setup I installed rSap with the installation files, rebooted and went to my car and tested it. Voila, works out of the box. So there is hope for N5 users who want to update.
I will keep reporting my experience here for others to follow.
I even noticed one improovement: With Andoid 4.4.4 (Stock+Root) I always came to the networkprovider selection screen, although I already hat good reception. I don't have that now.
On my way home this afternoon I will test some more things including phonebook and WLAN.

UPDATE
On my way home from work I managed to play a bit with my setup. It's incredible, everything works flawless. From Connecting, making calls, (updating) phonebook and dialing from it. Awesome.
One more advantage of Andoid L ist that you can hide the "always active" notification from rsap in the notification bar.

Whoever wants to know my Setup:
Nexus 5 16GB
VW Golf 5
3C8 035 730D (rSAP, HFP, WLAN)
RNS 510
MFA black/white Instrumentcluster from recent Scirocco

Or put the other way around: Lollipop works with the 1.x (Android 4.4.2) radio software...

Where did you get the network provider selection? Phone or car?

Hey.
I got the selection on my phone, the same menu when I enter Settings -> ... -> Network provider
I don't even know if it had something to do with rSAP Android, I must confess I was lazy and just ignored that "problem" :?

I don't think it is related to rSAP and I only asked because I feared it may happen in the car

Strange that the behavior has changed in Lollipop, although you use the same radio software.

I only went down to my car and tried connecting it - with success. Haven't made any tests so far, will do that later and report back here.
Just wanted some Google-Bot friendly topic to show everyone that there is hope for the N5 with rSAP, since I love that functionality.

hello,

as brief information.

I tried to install the rSAP program on the original Android 5.0.
With the normal file system, there were only error.

Then I tried the Nexus 4 file system.

Here I get together a normal connection, but I can not call anyone. However, I have a power indicator in the RNS 310 and speedometer.

Maybe this helps a little.

When I do the test system with the settings, is only an error:

Select EF.ICC (USIM)
USIM Class is not supported

Maybe this helps a little

Sorry my English is not perfekt, Google help me, i am from Austria

You need to flash the old 4.4.2 radio image. The Nexus 5 doesn't work with the Nexus 4 system files.

Works flawlessly with the older KOT49E baseband. The only minor niggle is: you should try to get a way to turn the icon off, as it always ends in a big, white notification bar, especially annoying on the lockscreen...

There is an option to switch off all notifications of a specific app in Android app settings. Maybe this prevents the service from being killed without having the visible notification? I'll check that.
