Mobile network stays disabled after using rSAP

Post by eddie_f » Thu Jan 19, 2012 11:39 am

Hey there,

it's been awhile since my last post, but now I found something annoying in the latest rSAP version, so I thought I have to post a comment on the situation.

I'm still using a rooted stock HTC ROM for my Desire Z, build no. 2.42.405.2.
The only two things I changed are: it's rooted and the kernel is 2.6.35.14-UNITY-V9 for overclocking.

After using rSAP in my car, the mobile network option in the android settings is disabled. It says, that all wireless connections are disabled, so the mobile network cannot be enabled, although my phone is definitely reconnected to the wireless network and I can make and receive phone calls. The only fix to get the mobile network running again is to reboot the phone, which is a bit annoying, since it takes some time and the will to do it ;)

In earlier versions the mobile network came back automatically after using rSAP, although it was not working everytime, but most of the time, so it was merely a glitch.

I'm looking forward for any suggestions and your reply.

Greetings,
Eddie

It may be a timing issue. But where...?
What did you upgrade? System files and/or app?

Yes I did upgrade to the latest version of the system files.

I installed CM 7.1 for testing and the issue only happened to me once in 4 days with CM 7.1, but with the rooted HTC ROM it occurs almost everytime.

If the latest version of the system files made it worse for you, you should downgrade again. The changes in the last version of the system files fixed issues with the data connection on the Galaxy Nexus, so I thought it was a good idea to do the same fix for the HTC phones.

Do you still have the previous version available (lib or installer apk)?

Hmm I'm afraid, that I don't have the previous version anymore. I recently updated the installer app from the market and got the latest files that way.

Can you provide me the apk?

Ok I did my tests yesterday and it worked like it should. After using rSAP, the mobile network came back like it should. I would say, there seems to be a problem with the Nexus fix, at least on Sense enabled kernels. I will do more testing in the next few days, I'm going to Austria for a week, so it will be plenty of time to check the phones behaviour.

I'm back from my holidays and from what I can tell, version 1.1 works fine 9 out of 10 times. There must be something with HTC kernels, that does not work well in version 1.2.

Strange... But if it helps. I'll have to think about how to handle that for future updates...

Sorry, I don't know why this happens. I'll check if the very old system files mentioned above still work with the current app version. Which ROM do you use? Did you use the "native" system files?
