this is just to describe my experience connecting my HTC Desire to the Premium BT prep in my 2008 VW Touareg.
The Touareg's phone module PN is 7L6 035 730 C (7L6035730C). This unit does not support the HFP profile so I was forced to look for an rSAP implementation for Android. I installed the rSAP App from this website, which required me to root my phone. Used the Unrevoked tool and then installed the SuperUser app. The rSAP app installed with no problem on my HTC Gingerbread stock ROM. The phone then connected to the car easily.
I had problems with transferring my phonebook and phone lists to the car, though. I tried changing my ROM to MIUI (which is CynogenMod-based) and then install the Bluetooth.apk file from this website but to no avail. After some communication with Martin (the author of the rSAP app and the admin of this site) and log analysis we found that the unit in the car does not support the PBAP protocol but only the older IrMC protocol, which Android does not work with.
I decided to buy a newer version of the Premium BT module and change this in the car.
I will keep you posted.
